I + J drove down for the their couples session from Los Angeles to Big Sur for the weekend. They stayed near Monterey and visited cute shops in Carmel before our sunset photoshoot at the beach located at Garrapata State Park.

Couples engagement session at Big Sur area, Garrapata State Park.

ABOUT GARRAPATA STATE PARK

Garrapata State Park has a two mile beachfront that includes coastal walks and a 50 ft climbing path for a spectacular view over Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, a federally protected zone. The parks has extensive coastline vegetation with paths stretching from the beautiful Pacific Ocean coast towards dense Redwood forests. The Park is also famous for its stunning coastline at Soberane Point. The sea lion and gray whales pass by the coast while migratory. It’s such an amazing thing to witness! The site of the park is located on Highway 1.1 at Carmel (18 miles north of Big Sur). This is such a great location for a coastal hike. J + had an amazing time just hanging out and enjoying the scenery. It doesn’t take much to enjoy the Big Sur area. Season/climate/recommend clothing. Weather changes are always possible. I always tell my couples to bring layers to stay warm especially for our sweet sunset moments sessions

Is Garrapata dog friendly?

Oh how I wanted their little fur baby to comeeeee. I LOVE puppy dogs!! If they are 3 months to 3 years, they are a puppy in my eyes lol. Many couples have asked me if Garrapata beach is dog friendly. Here’s the 411: Dogs can be seen on leash only in Garrapata State Park beach areas: Dogs with leashes are permitted on beach at Gate 19 and in the trails. I know my pups would love a walk off this coastline to explore all the plants and terrain! Dogs are not allowed in the rest of the city and in the Soberanes Valley.

J + I enjoying a couples session at Garrapata State Park

We had the best experience while touring the Big Sur area. Monterey was an easy drive back from the photoshoot. I’m so happy to be able to capture these sweet moments at such a beautiful destination. Spending time here It was a beautiful way to remember my last trip to Big Sur. California is one of my favorite places to travel, I’m available and eager to travel for a photoshoot whether in the mountains or at the beach – I’ve got you! It will be so much fun!
